When you need a tow truck and when on-site help is enough

Not every breakdown ends with transport. Sometimes a jump-start, wheel change, fuel delivery or a minor repair at the vehicle, for example involving fuses or wiring, is enough. If the call or inspection shows that the car can safely get back on the road, we will tell you straight away.

A tow truck is usually the right option when the car still will not start after a jump-start attempt and the cause cannot be safely fixed on site, or when the suspension, a wheel, the steering system or the gearbox is damaged, or the car has been in a collision. For accident damage, we can also prepare photographic documentation of the work and of the vehicle loaded onto the platform.

We do not tow a car with an automatic gearbox using a tow rope. This is a technical issue, not excessive caution. When a car is pulled with the engine off, the automatic gearbox turns without proper lubrication, because the gearbox oil pump works only when the engine is running. The result may be immediate seizure or damage that appears after some time.

That is why, for a car with an automatic gearbox, the only correct method is a flatbed tow truck or recovery platform. If you are not sure what gearbox the car has or exactly what happened, tell the dispatcher. We will determine a safe way to proceed before dispatching a vehicle.
